One of five highest mountains in Taiwan, Snow Mountains is located on the northwest side of the Central Mountains. With a length of 260km and a width 28km, the mountain range contains a total of about 20 peaks that are above 3000m. The Snow Mountain is at the center of the mountain range with 6 different routes to get there. It is the second highest one in Taiwan (3886m).

Using the 6 routes, climbers like to gather on the top of the mountain at a specific time. This was an interest of mine while I was in college. Now, I can relive it through Google Earth.

I have labeled each mountain top with its name in huge 3 dimensional Chinese characters (about 20m height). I have also labeled the 6 different routes to get to the top of Snow Mountain. I have also displayed 4 pictures taken from the sky by Google Earth Photo.

A new feature of the undated Google Map is the topography. For the low resolution areas of Google Earth, like the mountain regions in Taiwan, the feature provides good images. Globe Glider developed the function of Google Maps Overlay, which allows for Google Map to be added to Google Earth. I have added this function onto the Snow Mountains Skyview kmz.
