Tokyo Marathon
I like running marathons. My first experience was the NY marathon on Google Earth 2 years ago. Since then, I have tried to combine a series of marathons worldwide with Google Earth: including those held in Taiwan, Berlin, the Spartathlon, La Transe Gaule(18 days), Deutschlandlauf (17 days), etc.
I have applied my most creative techniques on Google Earth so far to the Tokyo Marathon. It has two parts. The first one concerns the 42,195m marathon distance. Each 100m has a placemark(runner icon). With the 423 placemarks, add a time tag feature, and by expanding the time span to increase distances, you can see the runners’ movement.
The second technique I used on 6 pictures that I pulled from the official website of the Tokyo Marathon. You can enlarge the pictures actively from all sides. In accordance with the runners’ movement, it displays the effect of audio software or flash.
Please download the Kml Collection
, and experience the marathon in person on Google Earth.
