NASA Top 10 Photos in Google Earth
On April 22, Frank Taylor of Google Earth Blog wrote an article concerning the NASA Earth Day Photos in Google Earth. He also attempted to paste 5 photos using Google Earth. There were two photos pasted using Photo Overlay due to their larger angles, and the other three use Image Overlay. The remaining 5 photos were not pasted, including 1 of a Los Angeles Night scene and 4 that were taken above the Earth’s atmosphere. After viewing Frank’s work, I made some adjustments since some of the photos were not taken from an optimal location. I finally completed all 10 photos. Out of the 4 photos taken above the Earth’s atmosphere, only one mentions its location, the Baltic Sea, and scale. It is unknown where the other 3 photos were taken.
Following Frank’s method, I put 10 NASA pictures that have been shrunk, together with their associated description onto the 10 landmarks. Then, I used the same method as in the “Taiwan from the Air” whereby you can click the photo and GE will take you to the Photo Viewer model. You can then enlarge the photo to its original size to view as you wish.
Out of these 10 photos, 5 were taken during the day, so I put them in the Day folder. I put the other 5 photos into the Night folder since they were taken during the night. When viewing the night photos, remember to turn on the sunlight light option, found on GE4.3 edition. Following the location of the photo, adjust the time zone accordingly.
It cannot possibly be satisfying just watching it through YouTube. Please download KMZ Collection
and enjoy GE for yourself.
