Taiwan just went through the biggest typhoon in the past 50 years on 8/8/2009, the diameter of this typhoon reached 1200km. Some areas had their equivalent of one year rainfall in two days. The typhoon has caused ever the most destructive floods and mudslides in southern Taiwan.
There are some imagery of disaster area, including aerial photographs and satellite images:
1. FS2 Satellite Images
(photoed on 8/17 by NSPO)
2. Orthographic Aerial Photos
(Photoed on 8/12 to 8/25 by Aerial Survey Office, Forestry Bureau)(Kml by Sinica)
3.Nine Air Reconnaissance Photos
(photoed on 8/12 to 8/13 by Central Emergency Operation Center)
4.Kao-Ping River downstream satellite images
(Photoed on 8/14 by Spot Image)
As one of the best applicationer of google earth in Taiwan, I have the responsibility to provide the public available image to the public to apply. So I integrate those imagery in a a onclick=”window.open(’http://gemvg.com/www/flood88e.htm’, ‘new_window’, config=’height=680,width=1160′)” href=”http://en.gemvg.com/archives/258″>website. I also make a link to Chi po-lin’s 500 aerial photographs
(photoed before disaster). In some areas there could be photos of pre-disaster and post-disaster to be compared.
In addition, I also provide the regional queries of township that was affected more serious. You can click on the left side of the township name, and fly to the township .
