I like running marathons. My first experience was the NY marathon on Google Earth 2 years ago. Since then, I have tried to combine a series of marathons worldwide with Google Earth: including those held in Taiwan, Berlin, the Spartathlon, La Transe Gaule(18 days), Deutschlandlauf (17 days), etc.

The 7th term Legislative Election of the Republic of China was held on Jan 12, 2008. There are a total of 73 elective districts in Taiwan. I used the multigeometry for mouseover effects method in order to show you more information about the elections. If you move the cursor to the label of each elective district, it will show you the winning candidate and other information like the political party of the winning candidate and the number of votes cast.You can download this KML Collection

The distance of one trip around the island of Taiwan is about 1000km. Two people tried to accomplish the feat in one day by riding buses. The challenge is that in order to go around the island, you have to combine the bus routes of 6 different districts. You will miss the next bus if there is just a little delay. The two people accomplished the feat at the end of 2007. In addition to applauding their accomplishment, I recorded the tour on Google Earth.

One of five highest mountains in Taiwan, Snow Mountains is located on the northwest side of the Central Mountains. With a length of 260km and a width 28km, the mountain range contains a total of about 20 peaks that are above 3000m. The Snow Mountain is at the center of the mountain range with 6 different routes to get there. It is the second highest one in Taiwan (3886m).
